我国的螺杆泵的初史阶段要从1984年天津从德国Allweiler公司的制造技术和英国Holroyd公司的2AC螺杆铣床和配套设备后算起。在那之前，法国工程师Moineau在1932年发明了单螺杆泵。算起来我国的螺杆泵要比国外整整落后了二十年。
在我国的螺杆泵中，其中生产_多的要数三螺杆泵产量，其产量达到了总产量的50%以上，位居__是单、双螺杆泵，而五螺杆泵的产量是其中_少的。据统计，我国螺杆泵的年产量总计大约一万多台。
对于螺杆泵的选材可以有很多选择，诸如：38CrMoAl、40Cr、20Cr13、16Mn、CrS5的、常需经渗氮硬化（HRc56-65）以及CrNi、CrMo、CrNiMo不锈钢、MnCrS钢等众多材料。在制造技术方面大多都是采用粗、精铣然后再到氮化。
